Wonderful Wednesday show-case time where I pick a few projects linked up to various link parties this past week.

Our first feature is this deer wall hanging by Maggie at Hell on Heels Housewife.  She combines a few trends here including the ruler art, silhouettes, and deer; the result is stunning!

Lastly, check out this book page wreath by Katie from Katie{Did}It.  Isn't it adorable?! And it'd be super easy if you wanted to embellish it according to season/holiday etc.

Storage Canisters

The only toy that can handle my dog's play is a tennis ball.  So I've been saving the containers and have started using them around the house.  But, one day I decided to decorate them to make them cute!

1. Open silhouette software and choose a design.  For the first canister I chose an all-over background pattern that was one of the original 50 designs.  Also change the page size to 6.5"x9.5"

Note: To change the side of the vinyl that cuts first (long edge instead of short edge) go to the "Page" tab then at the bottom select "Advanced Options" this will allow you to choose which edge you want to insert first.

2. Picture #3 is what the vinyl looked like when the machine first started cutting...(SORRY I PUT THE WRONG NUMBER ON THE PICTURE)  

3.  I thought I was safe and looked away...which is how picture #2 happened!

4.  So...I stuck my piece of vinyl on the mat and re-cut it that way.

5.Me doing homework...Sil cutting away...

6.  Weeding time! I used the hook tool.  I can tell you this is much cleaner weeding than the garden kind in the summer.

7.Weeding all done!

8.  Smooth transfer paper on top of vinyl.

9. Carefully peeling the transfer paper and vinyl away from backing...some of the design did break :/ but I kept on peeling.

10.  Grab on of your tennis cans that you have removed the label from.

11.  Smooth transfer paper and vinyl around can.

12.  Slowly peel off the transfer paper and smooth down any vinyl that didn't quite stick.

Walla!  You have some cute canisters in which to store things! The one on the left stores plastic bags in the car. The one on the right now stores doggy treats for Bailee!

For those without a silhouette I think it'd still be super cute to just cut .5" to 1" strips to apply either horizontal or vertical to dress them up a bit.

AHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
Christmas has come early for my fiance and me!!!  (ok ok I'm super excited because I got my Christmas gift early and I WASN'T expecting it at all!)

So I knew Sgt. J wanted a new computer so on Black Friday we went and got a pretty good deal on a pretty high-quality lap-top.  I know I know pretty expensive gift.  Since we are getting married next summer we figured we could spend a little more on each other this Christmas since after this we will probably NEVER spend that much on each other again.

I kinda need a new laptop but I also have a fairly new desktop so I didn't really want a new laptop...I wanted something FUN!  So I made a "wish list" on amazon...we order from that site like every week I swear we should be paid advertisement for them (hint hint Amazon owners :)  and e-mailed it to the fiance...didn't think I'd get anything from it till Christmas. Oh, if your wondering what I wished for...it was a serger and a Silhouette.

Well when I got home yesterday there was a big box sitting on the kitchen table!  I sorta opened it enough to see that it was a SILHOUETTE!  Oh joyous of day! YES! WOOWOO! I couldn't tell you how happy I was.  Because it had been shipped to me instead of Sgt. J I figured I was safe to open it.

Then my mother got all guilty on me...she thought that Sgt. J should be there to witness all the joy.  So I sat in anticipation the rest of the evening in hopes that I will get to dig in tonight if Sgt. J and I are able to get together...don't worry Silhouette, we will make it happen, you will come out of your box tonight!

In the mean time I am planning projects...here's a few I have my eye on...

Cute Fabric Flowers!  I would like to make some and include them in the flower arrangements next summer at our wedding...so there might be quite a few posts about Silhouette flowers coming.

Rest assured I will definitely be trying this freezer paper trick from now on using my Silhouette...I did to the freezer paper stencil on shirts before and let me tell you how time consuming that is cutting the design out with a razor blade...for sure excited about this!
