Shoulder/Crossbody Purse

My favorite style of purse right now is the Shoulder/Crossbody Purse as when I wear it cross-body my hands are freer to (browse the sale racks) hehe... see it's a very useful design.

Using the pattern I featured in a giveaway post here, you can also see an example of another one I've created for a giveaway here, I've created some more versions by altering the pattern a bit.

The Hand-Bag

If ya don't mind I'd like to show some projects I've been working on lately! 

Remember that bag I made for the hand-made gift exchange?

Well, I decided to try my hand at a few more with some different fabrics.  

The 2 bags below are what I came up with.

Pleather Techniques

Recently I found a great resource for working with pleather.  I love the look that this leather-like material has for finishing purses and accessories, however it can be a bit difficult to work with.  

Here you will find a way to sew the straps like I did in the pictures below.

If you're wondering about the button hole way of attaching well there's a tutorial for that too!

 The above tutorial wasn't out when I sewed this bag so I sorta just made it up as I went along and ended up just zig-zaging(?) the edges of the hole that the strap goes through since I could not get my pleather to look like it does in the pictures over at her tutorial.  I also did the button hole on the front of the strap so that the end of the strap wasn't showing on the outside.  Because my strap wasn't as wide I also only did one button hole. Although next time I'm going to try the tutorial way!

Tote Tuesday

It's actually been a few weeks since I made this tote but I've been putting off posting it because I wanted to release a basic tote tutorial first and then release this one when I continue the series to show how you can customize the concept.  I am planning on next Tote Tuesday's project being the first post of the Basic Tote Tutorial Series so you can consider this one a preview!

Handmade Gift Exchange Craft!

Hello once again!
Today I'm posting the gift I made for the Handmade Gift Exchange.  Linda has a fabulous site and holds the Handmade Gift Exchange twice a year.


This was my first time participating in the gift exchange and it was soo much fun to be paired up with another crafty lady, exchange a few emails and a handmade gift.  My gift partner and I kept our gifts to each other a surprise, we thought it'd be a bit more fun that way :)  The surprise was on us though as we each ended up making each other purses! Below is the handbag that I made, I will update this post later with pictures of the fabulous handbag that I received!


My sister had gotten me this Simplicity pattern for my birthday in June and I thought I'd try out one of the patterns.  I used some decor weight fabric remnants that I had picked up at the local DAC thrift store in our town along with the mint and cream accent fabric remnant from, I believe, our local JoAnn's remnant pile.


I really like how it turned out!  The only things I would do differently would be to lengthen the straps so that it can be worn over the shoulder more easily.

I added the fabric flower and made it a pin so that it can be removed if the bag needs to be washed.

After my first attempt at it I realized that this is going to be wayyyy too small for my everyday use but it would be the perfect size for the little girls (cousins/friend's girls) in my life!

Soo because I have 4 little girls total in my life who I knew could use one I decided to make 3 more!
